Luckily, my home had a long hallway I could use for storage. I lined both sides of the hall with bookcases, fifteen of them in all, to hold more books.
There was barely enough room to squeeze between them to get to the laundry room, even after turning sideways to inch along.
Each bookcase held about 150 books. When I filled those up, I expanded into the garage and built a couple of gigantic bookcases from wood planks and cinder blocks. Those held another 4,000 books before I ran out of space again.
I started eying a couple of upstairs bedrooms and my wife threatened to divorce me. It was me or the books. My Internet bookselling journey had taken me less than twelve months to amass over 6,000 titles.
I surrendered to the more powerful entity in the home. So my next move was to relocate my inventory to a 1,250 sqft commercial warehouse. All that room -- I thought I had died and gone to bookseller heaven!
Over the years I made plenty of mistakes. I wasted a lot of time and money stumbling down blind alleys in search of the "magic formula" that would end my money worries forever.
After a great deal of hard work I persevered, and today I operate a highly profitable internet bookselling business.
