Internet Bookselling News & Views, Issue #10 - Uncorrected Proofs November 26, 2012 |
November 25, 2012 Happy Holidays! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I know I did. A few days ago, one of my readers eMailed me and said that she had bought a book while out scouting that turned out to be an "Uncorrected Proof Copy." She asked if it was okay to list the book on Amazon and sell it. Sadly, I had to tell her "no." Amazon won't allow booksellers to list an "Uncorrected Proof" or "Advance Reading Copy." However, is IS okay to sell them on some of the other marketplaces as long as the book is already in publication. Otherwise, she'll have to wait until the publication date. Sooner or later, you'll run into this same problem. In the heat of a popular book sale, it's easy to buy a banned book. Therefore, I wrote an article that tells you what to do when you make that mistake. The article is listed below under the title, "Uncorrected Proof Copy & Advance Reading Copies: Information Booksellers Should Know." Good hunting.
